Preheat the oven to 325. Wash turnips and place in a roasting pan coated with olive oil. Roast until tender (about 45 min). peel turnips and slice thinly. Butter a small casserole dish and fill with alternating layers of turnip, 1 tsp brown sugar sprinkled over the turnip and cheddar. mix together the melted butter, bread crumbs, parmesan, salt and pepper and sprinkle over the top of the casserole. Bake for 15 minutes in the oven.
